Liverpool confirmed defender exit

Chris MavingaLiverpool have confirmed Chris Mavinga has completed a transfer to Rennes.

The 20-year-old defender departs Anfield for the French club after two years with the Reds.

Mavinga joined Liverpool from Paris Saint-Germain in the summer of 2009, though he never made a first-team appearance.

He spent part of the 2010-11 season on loan at Belgian side Genk.

Liverpool left-back close to Rennes switch

Liverpool has agreed a fee in the region of £1million for French starlet, Chris Mavinga with Rennes.

Chris Mavinga The French club appear to have beaten Genk and Villarreal to his signature. Mavinga is wanted by the trio after being told his future lies away from Anfield and Rennes, Villarreal and Genk were all ready to make official bids for him.

Rennes have secured a deal for the left-back and hope to announce the signing this week.
